Stocks Turn In A Lackluster Performance Amid Economic Uncertainty - U ...

12/19/2007 4:29:26 PM With traders continuing to express some uncertainty about the outlook for the economy, the U.S. stock markets showed a lack of direction during trading on Wednesday. Stocks moved back and forth across the unchanged line, unable to sustain any significant moves.

While stocks moved higher in morning trading due in part to news that the Federal Reserve was successful in encouraging banks to use its new auction facility, buying interest waned shortly afterward and stocks moved back to the downside.

Stocks moved a little more firmly into negative territory over the course of the afternoon, with news that Standard & Poor's downgraded its rating outlook on several bond insurers generating some selling pressure. The major averages eventually ended the session mixed, as the Nasdaq climbed back into positive territory in late day trading.

There is a big difference between reason...due exercise of logical thought based on fact... and excuse...a statement with or without a factual basis to pardon one or be forgiven for one's actions or statements. Reviews: Preschool to Grade 4

Her over-the-top confidence and audacious attitude strain the "likability" factor of this long-winded fairy as she explains her responsibilities. Richly colored, humorous illustrations, rendered in acrylic and oil paints, pencil, and ballpoint pen, are the highlight of this tale. The pictures reveal a redheaded sprite in purple who is always accompanied by three assistant lightning bugs. Her mode of transportation is a flat, tooth-shaped, booster-powered board as she collects teeth from children throughout the country. But the question still remains, what does she do with all those teeth? An additional purchase, this is a wordy book about an illustrious but illusive childhood fantasy.—Maryann H.
