With the summer intern-hiring season just around the corner, the story reminded me of a bizarre applicant I once interviewed at Southern Arizona Home Builders Association (SAHBA).I had a paid, part-time position open for a communications intern to help with our newsletter, magazine, and various public relations assignments. If the person worked out, the main goal was to hire him or her full-time.An ad brought in 15 or so qualified applicants and the list was narrowed down to four finalists.Candidate No. 1 was strong, but was dropped after an initial phone interview due to some "attitude" issues.Candidate No. 2 was probably the best qualified, but the "chemistry" didn’t seem right.Candidate No. 3 was ultimately hired and, in time, promoted to publications director. After almost four years, she has become a valuable, integral part of our team.The final candidate was Karrla, a journalism student at the University of Arizona.
Katie Brings Her Subdued Excitement to Morning Talk Shows
The Cruise family landed in NYC yesterday afternoon and was straight off to FAO Schwarz to blow off some of that cooped-up energy from sitting on the plane. Tom and Katie walked out empty handed, but Suri nabbed herself a big ol' teddy bear to match her furry jacket. There was no night out at the clubs for mom and dad though (ha, as if) because Katie was up bright and early to make the morning talk-show rounds. She stopped by Good Morning America as well as Regis & Kelly to promote Mad Money and, of course, gush about her family. Just so you know, Aunt Vivica Fox has shot down and dismissed charges that she's ever done a sex tape. I knew my auntie would never do that.
There are rumors that Conrad, the chief A& R of Bad Boy, has resigned. These rumors are true, from what I heard. I'm hearing that he wasn't happy with the salary and was the only big-time A&R there. I hear he is setting his sights on an internet site.
One of the New York Papers is saying that Flavor Flav is going to do “Flavor of Love" one more time. I can't fathom going through another season of that buffoonery.
Word has it Mariah is now coming out in the second quarter of 2008, not the first.
